A quick post this week, to highlight a huge accomplishment for Randy Tison, a Navy veteran and triathlete who joined the Project Echelon family this spring. His goal was to PR in the Ironman 70.3 Madison which took place this past week. And despite far from ideal weather conditions, he did exactly that, taking an hour (!!!) off his bike PR, and finishing with a total time of 7 hours 41 minutes and 21 seconds.
This accomplishment is even more impressive when you understand how crazy Randy’s day-to-day life is – He (somehow) manages to fit in three-sport training while traveling, working, and spending time with his family.
A bit more about Randy:
He spent ~8 years on active duty in the Navy, afterwards focusing on work and family. He holds a Ph.D. in Measurement and Quantitative Methods, and currently travels almost every week for work, making training (i.e. finding a bike to ride) very difficult. However, Randy has found a way. Over the past two decades, he has trained for and competed in multiple marathons and Ironman, in addition to mentoring friends and co-workers through their weight loss and exercise journeys.
When he’s not traveling, working, or exercising, Randy still finds time to spend with his family: his wife, two sons, and two foster children. He is also a Nuun-sponsored and plant-based athlete.
I have been working with Randy since March 2019, and it is amazing to see the progress that he has already made. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish in the future – thank you to Project Echelon for their support!
