Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been busy writing Power Analysis articles for Velonews. It all started at the Vuelta, when American Sepp Kuss one a stage, and 20 year-old Tadej Pogacar shocked all of us by coming from behind to finish 3rd on GC. Then came World’s, and the next generation of Americans completely took over. Medals and rainbow jerseys for everyone! it seemed.
Megan Jastrab won the Junior Women’s Road Race, Quinn Simmons took the Junior Men’s. Ian Garrison and Brandon McNulty finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the U23 Men’s Time Trial. And Chloé Dygert destroyed the Elite Women’s field to win the time trial by over a minute and a half.
Luckily for us power-hungry (not the political kind) cycling fans, Simmons and Dygert uploaded their respective World’s Road Race rides to Strava. I took a deep dive into the data and the stories behind each of their races in these two columns for Velonews. You can read them here:
